Commissioned Growth Groups
Why: To Elevate Importance of Growth Groups
How: To Commission Growth Groups

NOTE: Sample Commissioning Service
This commissioning is the launching point of active service on behalf of this Life Group for ________________________.

Our Promise
In response to God's love and call, this Life Group promises to seek to nurture you and in faith and to affirm and encourage your call to build up Christ's body where you serve.

Our Charge
- Servants of Christ, accept the service with which you have been entrusted.
- Do not neglect the gift that is in you.
- Present yourselves to God as approved workers, ever faithful to the Spirit of God.
- Remember always that Jesus called you friends as well as servants.
- Attend to prayer, for without God you can do nothing.

Our Prayer
Almighty God, look with favor upon ____________________ who today affirms commitment to follow Christ and to serve in his name. Give them courage, patience, and vision; and strengthen us all in our Christian vocation of witness to the world and of service to others; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your Commitment
- Personal holiness as an act of worship to the Lord.
- Extend love to God's people in how you treat them.
- Proclaim Christ to lost souls at every opportunity.
- Releasing resources to meet needs of the saints as determined by God's leading.
- Organize a Growth Group / Home Bible Study in your immediate area that could be an extension of this Life Group for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Your Guide
1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he/she has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.

Three Misconceptions that Small Group Leaders might assume:

You have to be a super shepherd and care for everyone's needs.
You have to be a Biblical scholar and know all the answers.
You have to be a counselor and help people with their problems.

This challenge has made me look at my attitude.
It's easy for me to disqualify myself as a leader.
God doesn't do that.
God uses people who are willing to serve.
The truth is that we all use excuses to get out of doing things that we may feel incompetent to do.

But with faith, we don't have to know it all because we have a God who knows it all. Plus He also knows what to do!

We serve a God that wants to use us to build His church and do great things in His name.
